Does the supplication "O Allah, make my death a sleep" contradict the supplication "O Allah, I ask You for martyrdom in the mosque of Your Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him)"?

The first supplication has not been authentically reported from the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and it seems that its intent is to supplicate for the alleviation and ease of death. As for the second supplication, its meaning has been authentically reported from Umar ibn al-Khattab, may Allah be pleased with him, that he used to ask Allah for martyrdom in His path and to die in the city of His Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. He did not ask for martyrdom in the Prophet's mosque. There is no need to ask how to reconcile the first supplication with others due to its lack of authentic transmission. Asking Allah for martyrdom does not contradict asking Him for an easy death free from hardship, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, informed us: "Indeed, the martyr does not feel the pain of being killed except as one of you feels the sting of a gnat."
