What should a person do if they have accumulated many expiations for oaths (kaffarat yamin) due to repeatedly swearing not to repeat ablution (wudu') or intention (niyyah), and how is feeding ten poor people done in expiation, and can they be compensated by fasting if they are not available?

The issue of whisperings (waswasah) and their treatment has been discussed in previous fatwas. It is sufficient for feeding the needy to give each a kilogram and a half of food (rice or alms) or two meals (lunch and dinner) to ten needy persons. For clothing, a garment that is suitable for prayer is sufficient. The details of the expiation for an oath (kaffarat al-yamin) are in Fatwa No. 33038. A needy person is someone who has no money, or has money that is insufficient for their needs, or someone who has dependents but no one to support them. If you do not find any needy persons, you must fast for three days.
