How can I rid myself of forty expiations for oaths (kaffarat yameen)? Is it permissible to feed one poor family (four people) and consider it as one expiation? And is it permissible to donate a sum of money to charitable organizations that feed orphans in order to discharge these expiations?

The expiation for an oath is to feed ten poor persons from the average of what you feed your own families, or to clothe them, or to free a slave. If one cannot find [the means], then [it is] fasting for three days. It is not sufficient to feed only four poor persons; rather, the number mentioned in the verse must be fulfilled. The feeding should be half a saa' for each poor person (approximately 1.5 kg). It is permissible to give the expiation to a trustworthy charity.
