All that befalls a servant, whether good or evil, is by Allah's decree and destiny. Belief in this is a pillar of faith. However, this does not contradict the fact that a wrongdoer deserves blame and punishment, because Allah Almighty has given him will, intellect, and ability, which makes him accountable for his actions and deserving of reward or punishment. It is not appropriate to inform family members about one's sins unless there is someone among them from whom advice and assistance in good deeds and abstaining from bad actions can be sought. Otherwise, this would fall under the category of openly committing sins.
