What is the ruling on a man stipulating to his prospective wife that she must be a worker to help him with the burdens of living, even though he knows of the impact this will have on household stability?

The materialistic outlook has become dominant, making the wife's employment an essential condition for many. This is an exchange of what is inferior for what is better if it comes at the expense of family stability. It is permissible for a husband to stipulate the wife's wealth or work, as this is one of people's objectives in marriage, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "A woman is married for four things: for her wealth, for her lineage, for her beauty, and for her religion. So choose the one with religion, and you will prosper."
