Is it forbidden or permissible to learn and study psychology and philosophy?

Psychology has a basis in Islamic law, but its current study overlooks the aspect of a servant's connection with his Lord, and views events in a materialistic way. Therefore, its students must be cautious of the deviation that these studies may lead to.

As for philosophy and positive laws, it is permissible to study them for those who are able to distinguish their truth from their falsehood after studying the Quran and Sunnah, in order to establish the truth and refute falsehood. It is forbidden for those who are unable to do so. It is not permissible to generalize the study of philosophy in educational institutions; rather, it should be limited to qualified specialists.

The ruling on studying these sciences varies depending on the condition of their students, in terms of their steadfastness in correct belief and their ability to distinguish between truth and falsehood and refute misconceptions.
