The definition of philosophy, its ruling, and the ruling on reading books written in the style of philosophers have already been stated. It has also been previously pointed out that whoever does not have a firm grounding in Islamic knowledge should beware of studying philosophy. What is blameworthy in philosophical knowledge is that which is based on ignorance or contradicts Islamic law. The standard for that is: whether it agrees with Islamic law and reason, or contradicts them.
