Which opinion should be adopted: yours or that of the Jordanian General Iftaa' Department? And how is the expiation for 31 years to be divided in terms of rice, and is it permissible to divide it among different individuals, quantities, or times?

We have previously clarified that this is the Shafi'i madhhab, and it differs from what we deem preponderant, and the issue is subject to ijtihad. An ordinary person imitates whoever he trusts in their knowledge and religiosity, and he is not obligated to imitate a specific fatwa issuing body merely because he resides in its country. Rather, he is permitted to imitate whoever is trusted in their knowledge and piety, even if they are not from his country. If you adopt the Shafi'i madhhab, the expiation is one mudd of food (approximately 750 grams of rice) for each day, multiplied by the number of days and years for which you delayed its making up. It is permissible to give it to more than one person and place, and it must be given immediately upon ability. Whatever you are unable to give remains a debt upon you until you gain the ability.
