Usurious gains must be disposed of by spending them on the general welfare of Muslims. The same applies to any money whose owner is unknown, such as usurped goods, borrowed items, deposits, money taken from thieves, or abandoned property belonging to people. This is the view held by Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and Al-Ghazali.
