What is the ruling on a person who was born with feminine characteristics and a deformity in his reproductive organs, and later discovered that he is male and has two testicles and his chromosomal formula is (46, XY), yet he mingles with women and sees their awrah? What should he do?

It is advisable to present the test results to specialized doctors. If they determine that masculine characteristics are dominant, then it is permissible to take the necessary surgical measures to correct the situation and reveal the true gender. The International Islamic Fiqh Academy has permitted medical treatment for both genders (through surgery or hormones) if the signs of one gender are dominant, in order to remove ambiguity, with the obligation to expedite this. Families should be made aware of the danger of mixing with unrelated women, exposing awrah (private parts), and being in seclusion. The problematic intersex individual (khuntha mushkil) should be treated with the strictest precautions, so they must not be in seclusion with an unrelated male or female.
