What is the ruling on one who wrongs people? And how does he ask for their forgiveness?
Injustice is one of the great prohibitions and most heinous sins. Allah has threatened the unjust in the Holy Quran with His curse, and that Allah is not heedless of what the wrongdoers do, but rather postpones them until a Day when eyes will stare fixedly. Allah has also forbidden injustice for Himself and made it forbidden among His servants.
Moreover, injustice will be darknesses on the Day of Resurrection, and Allah gives respite to the unjust until, when He seizes him, He does not let him go.
Therefore, the unjust person must hasten to sincere repentance to Allah Almighty and free himself from the grievances of people by restoring their financial rights, even indirectly. If the injustice concerned their honor, the principle is to seek their forgiveness. If he fears harm, he should limit himself to supplicating for them and asking Allah to please them.
