What is the standard of religiosity and character in His (peace be upon him) saying: "If there comes to you one whose religiosity and character you approve, then marry him"? And is forging documents and ridiculing the wife and her family considered an impediment to approving his religiosity and character, and does that permit seeking separation?

Forging documents involves lying, deception, and fraud, and it is Haram (forbidden) by consensus. Mockery is a transgression, for Allah Almighty says: "O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one's] faith. And whoever does not repent - then it is those who are the wrongdoers." Therefore, it is preferable to abandon the engagement if the proposal has not been finalized. However, if the marriage contract has been concluded, it is preferable to continue and attempt to guide him and forbid him from evil deeds.
