What is the ruling on hanging pictures, and what is its ruling if they are purposeful pictures such as boycott pictures or pictures of Sheikh Ahmed Yassin?

The majority of jurists are of the opinion that it is forbidden to hang pictures of complete heads (full-faced images). They cite as evidence several hadiths, including: "Angels do not enter a house in which there is a dog or a picture," and "Do not leave any picture without effacing it," and "He (the Prophet) forbade pictures in the house," in addition to the story of the curtain that had images on it. They also justified this by explaining that it could lead to exaggeration and veneration, as happened with the people of Noah. Al-Nawawi, Ibn Hajar, Al-Shawkani, and Al-Mubarakpuri favored the view of the majority, and many contemporary scholars have issued fatwas (religious edicts) prohibiting it.
