The answer

Every calamity that befalls a servant, if met with patience and seeking reward from Allah, will be recompensed, and sins will be expiated through it. This includes the pain a woman experiences during menstruation; it is a tribulation for which she will be rewarded if she endures it patiently and seeks recompense from Allah. Allah Almighty says: "And give good tidings to the patient, who, when disaster strikes them, say, 'Indeed we belong to Allah, and indeed to Him we will return.' Those are the ones upon whom are blessings from their Lord and mercy. And it is those who are the [rightly] guided." And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "No fatigue, no illness, no sorrow, no sadness, no hurt, no distress befalls a Muslim, even the pricking of a thorn, but Allah expiates some of his sins by it."
