Do the religious texts indicate that the status of men is higher than that of women in the sight of Allah, and does this contradict the honoring of the mother and her role in giving birth to prophets and messengers?

The two aforementioned hadiths are authentic and indicate the immense right a husband has over his wife. The Qur'an also points to the superiority of men over women in the verse: "Men are in charge of women by [right of] what Allah has given some over others and because of what they spend from their wealth." This superiority is in terms of gender, not individuals. The preference of men over women does not diminish her status, for women have their own distinct perfection. Islam has honored women as mothers, wives, and daughters, and it is not a necessary consequence of this preference that there should be no honor from men towards women. A Muslim must be content and submit to what has come from Allah's legislation.
