Did Allah challenge the disbelievers with the previous heavenly books—such as the Psalms, the Gospel, and the Torah—to produce something like them? And do these books contain an inimitability that prevents the production of anything similar, like the Qur’an? If so, how do we reconcile this with what is mentioned in the Qur’an regarding their distortion?

The miracle of the Holy Qur’an is eternal and continuous until the Day of Judgment, unlike the miracles of previous prophets, which ended with the end of their eras. The Qur’an is an intellectual miracle, perceived by insight, whereas the miracles of previous prophets were sensory. Allah has guaranteed the preservation of the Holy Qur’an from distortion and alteration, whereas He entrusted the preservation of previous scriptures to their respective peoples, which led to their being subjected to distortion and change. Furthermore, the Holy Qur’an is the only book that challenged humanity to produce its like, and its miraculous nature has been proven.
