Is it understood from the meaning of the Hadith, "When his Lord revealed His Glory to the mountain, He made it crumble to dust, and Moses fell down unconscious," and the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) gesture with his pinky finger, that God manifested Himself to the extent of a pinky finger, or that God has a pinky finger? And does affirming this manifestation limit God?

The meaning of "And when his Lord revealed Himself to the mountain, He made it a devastation, and Moses fell down unconscious" (Al-A'raf: 143) is that Allah manifested Himself to the mountain, and He made it level with the ground, and Moses fell down unconscious. It was stated in the commentary of Ibn Abbas that what was manifested of Him was no more than the size of a little finger. Ibn al-Qayyim explained that Allah intended to inform Moses that human strength cannot withstand the sight of Him, Glorified be He.

It is mentioned in prophetic traditions, such as what Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrated, that the Prophet (peace be upon him) described the manifestation by placing his thumb on the joint of his right little finger, indicating the small extent of the manifestation that occurred. It was said that the mountain sank, and that the mountain became leveled with the ground due to the light of Allah. There is nothing in these traditions that indicates Allah has a little finger; rather, they serve to explain the small extent of the manifestation that led to the crumbling of the mountain.
