Is it permissible to say, "O Allah, do not let me be gradually led astray" or "O Allah, do not scheme against me nor plot against me," and is there any disrespect towards Allah in that?

Enticement (Istidraj), scheming (Makr), and plotting (Kayd) are attributes of Allah Almighty that befit His majesty. They have been mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah, such as His saying, "And they scheme, and Allah schemes," and "Indeed, they are plotting a plot, and I am plotting a plot."

Enticement (Istidraj) is to seize a servant unawares, or to bestow blessings upon him while he forgets to be grateful, or to renew blessings for him every time he commits a sin.

It is permissible for a Muslim to supplicate by saying: "O Allah, do not entice me (la tastadrijni)" or "O Allah, do not plot against me (la takid bi) and do not scheme against me (wa la tamkur bi)." This is not considered ill manners towards Allah. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, was reported to have supplicated: "O my Lord, help me and do not help against me; grant me victory and do not grant victory over me; scheme for me and do not scheme against me."
