Is mere privacy with one's wife after the legal عقد (marriage contract) and before the wedding considered legal consummation, even though social customs in Algeria consider consummation to be on the wedding day and view pregnancy before the wedding as a disgrace?

A woman becomes a wife legally simply by virtue of the marriage contract. Everything permissible for a husband with his wife becomes permissible for her husband with her, except that she and her guardian have the right to prevent the husband from consummating the marriage until he pays the immediate portion of the dowry. If there is a customary practice or a condition to delay consummation until the wedding, it should be observed, given the hardship that might arise from not observing it, especially if the wife becomes pregnant. The statement that the newborn in such a case is a child of fornication or that the spouses are sinful is incorrect, as the marital relationship is established between them. The valid seclusion (khilwa sahiha), upon which the rulings of consummation are based, takes the place of actual consummation. Among the Malikis, this is called "khilwat al-ihtida" (seclusion of initiation/guidance).
