The fundamental principle is to prevent the destruction of wealth, based on the Islamic legal proofs that prohibit extravagance and wastefulness. Doubt about the purity of something does not permit its destruction as long as its original state is purity, for the rule is that certainty is not removed by doubt. Not all alcohol is intoxicating and impure with the impurity of wine; some types are deadly poisons. The transformation of alcohol during manufacturing, or its presence in a small percentage, is sufficient to change the ruling regarding it. Therefore, something beneficial should not be destroyed merely due to doubt about its containing impure alcohol.
