What is the ruling regarding an "illegitimate" girl keeping the surname of her uncle who adopted her and registered her under his name, and what should she do about her name after 27 years, given her biological father's continued denial of her?

It is not permissible for a woman to attribute herself to a man who is not her legal father, whether he is the father of adultery or his brother, because Allah Almighty says: "Nor has He made your adopted sons your [true] sons." The child born of adultery is attributed only to his mother and is not attributed to the fornicator, nor does he inherit from him. Attributing oneself to other than the legal father is one of the grave sins. Patience is required, and one should not attribute oneself to this person. Young men should focus on religiosity in marriage proposals, not lineage or status. A woman does not bear the burden of what her mother committed, for every soul will have what it earned.
