What is the ruling on slaughtering two animals (fidyah) and distributing their meat to the needy as an expression of gratitude to Allah for the wife's pregnancy, based on the father's advice?

Slaughtering and feeding the needy is permissible as an act of gratitude to Allah, for feeding the poor is a form of beneficence that Allah loves. However, slaughtering to ward off evil and bring good, which is known as "al-fadw" (ransom or propitiation), is not permissible because there is nothing in the Sharia that indicates that slaughtering prevents the occurrence of divine decrees. Ibn Baz clarified that slaughtering upon the completion or halfway point of construction, if done to ward off jinn or with the intention that the slaughtering brings safety, is an innovation (bid'ah). If it is for the jinn, it is major shirk (associating partners with Allah). However, if it is an act of gratitude to Allah for His blessings and an invitation to relatives and neighbors, then there is no harm in it, similar to what some people do upon returning from a journey. Ibn Uthaymeen mentioned that slaughtering upon moving into a new home and inviting neighbors and relatives is permissible as long as it is not accompanied by a corrupt belief, such as slaughtering at the doorstep to prevent jinn, for this is a baseless belief.
