What is the ruling on cutting some hair from the head and beard and leaving other parts with the intention of beautification and not imitation of Jews?

If the intention is to trim the sides of the head hair and thin it out, there is no objection to it, because it does not fall under the forbidden qaza', which is shaving part of the head hair and leaving the other part. Qaza' is disliked because it disfigures creation, or because it is the adornment of Satan or the Jews. As for the beard hair, it is not permissible to shave it or trim all of it. Rather, it must be let grow, made abundant, and lengthened. It is permissible to take what exceeds a fistful of it. Goodness is what the Sacred Law has commanded.
