Would you advise me to study at the Institute for Imams and Preachers with the intention of working as a religious guide in the West or Africa, despite my fear of fitna (strife/temptation)? And would I be sinful if my parents do not approve of my travel for seeking knowledge or work?

It is advisable to diligently study the sciences of Sharia and engage in calling people to Allah. Emigration to non-Muslim countries is unlawful for anyone who cannot observe the rituals of their religion there, or if it is highly probable that working in Islamic centers there will lead to temptation and deviation. Obedience to parents is not obligatory if they prevent travel for the purpose of acquiring an obligatory knowledge that cannot be obtained without such travel. Your travel for work and seeking livelihood without your parents' permission is unlawful if they have no one to support them but you, and they are in dire need of your presence with them; otherwise, it is not unlawful.
