Feeding one poor person for each day is required, with one Mudd of food (approximately 750 grams of rice or the staple food). The total will be twelve Mudds for twelve poor persons. It is permissible to give the expiation to one poor person or several poor persons. She can pay it herself or appoint someone else to do so. It is preferable for her to give the Mudds herself. It is permissible to give their value in cash if that is more beneficial for the poor person.
