How can ten needy people be fed? Does this mean ten families or one family of ten individuals? Is it permissible to divide the feeding between two families? Is it permissible to send dry food?

If the mother's illness is hoped to be cured, she must make up the days she missed in Ramadan after her recovery. However, if her illness is not hoped to be cured, she must feed a poor person for each day she missed. It is permissible to give the expiation to a single poor person for all the days. The feeding can be with cooked food or dry, uncooked food. The amount of food to be given is one mudd (approximately 750 grams) of food, or half a saa' of food other than wheat. The more cautious approach is one mudd of wheat or two mudds of other types of food.
