Can a person afflict themselves with the evil eye, leading to the failure of everything they are optimistic about, striking them with fear of the future, and causing them to face difficulties in all their challenges?

A person may envy himself and afflict himself with the evil eye. The cure for this is to seek refuge from the evil eye and to pray for blessings, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If one of you sees something in himself, or his property, or his brother that he admires, let him pray for blessings for it, for indeed the evil eye is real." Some of the Salaf said: Whoever is impressed by something in his wealth or his child, let him say, "Masha'Allah, La Quwwata illa Billah (What Allah wills, there is no strength except with Allah)."
