The answer

A person may envy himself with the evil eye. Protection from this is by supplicating for blessings, thanking Allah, and contemplating His bounty, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "If one of you sees something in himself, his wealth, or his brother that he admires, let him pray for blessings for it, for the evil eye is real." If the feared outcome occurs, the envied person should recite over himself and supplicate to his Lord for well-being. Among what is beneficial in removing the effect of the evil eye is for the one who inflicted it to perform for the affected person, by performing wudu' and washing the inside of his lower garment, then the affected person bathes with it, for the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "And if you are asked to perform ghusl [for someone affected by the evil eye], then do so." No explicit text has been reported concerning the ghusl of one who has afflicted himself with the evil eye, but it appears there is no objection to it and it is beneficial.
