What is the ruling on designing graphic advertisements for propaganda, printing advertisements for cigarettes and shisha (hookah), and promoting charcoal used in shisha?

It is not permissible to work in advertising and promoting forbidden things such as cigarettes, shisha, and what is used in them. The Permanent Committee has issued a fatwa stating that it is not permissible to work for companies that manufacture or promote tobacco or advertise for it, and that the salary resulting from this work is unlawful because it constitutes cooperation in sin and aggression. The one who engages in such work must repent, abandon this work, and seek lawful earnings.
