To whom did the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, give the key to the Kaaba, and what is the ruling on taking it from that tribe?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

When the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, conquered Mecca, he took the key to the Kaaba from Uthman ibn Talha and prayed inside it. Then he came out reciting the verse: "Indeed, Allah commands you to render trusts to whom they are due." After that, he returned the key to Uthman ibn Talha, saying: "Take it, O Bani Talha, eternally and perpetually; no one will take it from you except an oppressor," and "Here is your key, O Uthman; today is a day of loyalty and righteousness." Therefore, it is not permissible to take the key of the Kaaba from the family of Talha.
