How does a woman wipe her head when performing Wudu'?
The method of wiping the head during ablution for a woman, or for someone with long hair, is to wipe the entire head from top to bottom, each side separately, without moving the hair from its state, as mentioned in the hadith of Al-Rubayyi' bint Mu'awwidh. There is another well-known method of wiping from the front of the head to the nape and then returning the hands, but this may cause the hair to spread. Therefore, the first method is chosen for women, or wiping from the front of the head to the back without returning the hands to avoid disheveling the hair, which is what Ahmad ruled for those with long hair.
