Is it permissible to contract a marriage with a girl if the young man is coerced by his father, who swore to disown him if he did not agree, and he is unwilling due to problems between him and the girl's brothers?

It is not permissible for a father to force his son to marry someone the son does not desire. If the son is able to fulfill his father's wish to marry a girl he does not want, that is commendable but not obligatory, and it is not considered disobedience if he refrains. Sheikh Al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah said: "Parents do not have the right to compel their child to marry someone he does not want." A son's embarking on such a marriage against his will under the father's pressure may be out of disliking but not coercion, or out of disliking and coercion, and each case has its own ruling.
