What is the religious ruling regarding a father who took money from his daughter without her consent, claiming it was his right in return for raising and educating her, and who discriminated in his treatment between males and females, and refused to help his daughters, including preparing one of them for marriage, while he helped his sons?

The rights of parents are great and must be upheld because they are the most emphasized rights after the right of Allah Almighty, as Allah says: "And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And to parents, do good." and His saying: "Worship Allah and associate nothing with Him, and to parents, do good." You must respect your father, treat him kindly, show him dutifulness, provide for him, and care for him if he is in need. However, he is not entitled to take from your money except what he genuinely needs, and it should not cause you harm, even if he claims it is because he spent on you in your childhood, as he was legally obligated to do so. A father must be just among all his children and not favor sons over daughters, as the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Be equitable among your children in giving; if I were to prefer anyone, I would prefer women." We advise the father to fear Allah, to counsel his children, to be just among them, and not to take their money without a legitimate right.
