Did the Messenger, may God's prayers and peace be upon him, forbid eating burnt meat?

There is no prophetic prohibition against eating burnt meat. Some Maliki scholars have permitted eating burnt food as long as it is not harmful. The Shari'ah prohibits exposing oneself to harm or destruction, as Allah says: (And do not throw [yourselves] with your [own] hands into destruction), and His saying: (And do not kill yourselves). And the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: (There should be neither harming nor reciprocating harm). Therefore, the determination of whether burnt food is harmful rests with specialists. If it is harmful, then it is forbidden; if it is not harmful, then it is permissible.
