What is the ruling on using tobacco as a hair conditioner?
Tobacco is a plant whose leaves are used in the manufacture of cigarettes and cigars. It is considered a harmful and destructive substance when smoked, which makes smoking and selling tobacco forbidden. As for its use in ways other than smoking, such as applying it to hair to soften it, this is permissible under two conditions: that it does not harm the hair or scalp, based on the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) saying: "(There should be) no harm and no reciprocation of harm," and that it does not necessitate buying forbidden cigarettes, as that would be assisting in sin. It is possible to substitute it with other beneficial substances.
