Is a person considered spiteful if they harbor hatred in their heart towards someone who wronged them or slandered them, even if they do not harm anyone with their tongue or seek revenge, and do they exit the circle of spite if they forgive them in their heart without communicating with them?

The Hadith mentioned by the questioner is authentic, and its meaning is that Allah the Almighty looks upon His creation on the night of the 15th of Sha'ban and forgives all of them, except for a polytheist or one who harbors malice. The malice (ash-shahna') mentioned in the Hadith refers to enmity and hatred for the sake of worldly desires and personal gratification, and not hatred for the sake of Allah the Almighty, such as hating those who persist in sins. If the aversion the questioner harbors towards those she mentioned is due to her personal desires, then she must hasten to remove it by reconciliation, forgiveness, and pardon, and by ending the estrangement between those who are in dispute. If she has exerted her utmost effort in this regard but is prevented by an obstacle, we hope that Allah the Almighty's forgiveness will encompass her on that night.
