Is it permissible for a menstruating woman to go to the mosque to study the Holy Qur’an without touching the Mushaf except with a barrier?

A menstruating woman is not permitted to enter or remain in the mosque. However, she can acquire knowledge by listening to audio recordings and reading books. As for a menstruating woman reciting the Quran by heart or touching the Mushaf with an interposing barrier, this is a matter of scholarly disagreement. The preponderant view is that it is permissible, due to the absence of explicit evidence prohibiting it. Drawing an analogy between her and a person in a state of major ritual impurity (junub) is questionable, as menstruation can be prolonged, which might lead to forgetting the Quran. Furthermore, it is permissible for a menstruating woman to touch the Mushaf with an interposing barrier when there is a need for memorization, review, study, or teaching.
