What are the rulings concerning a fetus that dies in the the ninth month of its mother's pregnancy, what is its status in the intermediate realm (Barzakh) and on the Day of Resurrection, and will it intercede for its parents?

If a fetus reaches four months or more and is stillborn, it is to be washed, shrouded, prayed over, named, and an 'aqiqah (definition) offered for it. This is the preponderant view after the soul has been breathed into it. Rulings related to childbirth apply to it, such as the obligation of paying a ghurrah (blood-money for a fetus) if its death was due to assault, the occurrence of a divorce suspended upon its birth, the termination of the waiting period ('iddah (definition)), and its mother being considered in post-natal bleeding (nifas (definition)). However, it does not inherit nor is it inherited from if it did not cry out upon birth. As for the life in Barzakh (definition) (the intermediary realm) and on the Day of Judgment, it will join the children of Muslims, and intercession for its parents is hoped for if it was prayed over and an 'aqiqah was offered for it, despite the weakness of the hadith (definition) narrations regarding the intercession of a miscarried fetus.
