How can many oaths be expiated, and what must a person do concerning them? And is a person considered to be participating in sin if he passes by a gathering in which religion is mocked and he cannot avoid it?

A Muslim should not swear excessively, based on the Almighty's saying: "And guard your oaths," and "And do not make Allah an obstacle to your oaths." If one breaks many oaths whose number is unknown, he should make expiation for the number he predominantly believes will absolve him. If the oaths were about a single matter and he broke them without making expiation, then one expiation is sufficient for all the oaths.

As for sitting in gatherings where the verses of Allah are mocked, a Muslim is commanded not to sit in them if he cannot change the evil, based on the Almighty's saying: "And He has already revealed to you in the Book that when you hear the verses of Allah being denied and mocked, then do not sit with them until they enter into another conversation. Indeed, in that case, you would be like them." If he sits while able to leave, he is sinful. However, if he sits out of necessity and cannot leave, there is no blame on him, provided he condemns it in his heart.
