Is repentance sufficient after nine years for a person who ran over another, then fled in the car, knowing that the questioner was accompanying him in the car at the time of the accident and informed the police with information about the person and the car, and does not know what happened afterward? And is he liable for expiation, absolution of responsibility, or a right towards the injured person?

If a servant sincerely repents to Allah, he is forgiven, and his evil deeds are transformed into good deeds, in accordance with the Almighty’s saying: "Except for those who repent, believe and do righteous deeds. For them Allah will change their evil deeds into good ones. And Allah is ever Forgiving, Most Merciful."

The colleague who did not report the accident must be advised to repent immediately and turn himself in to the responsible authorities, because concealing the accident is considered cooperation in sin.

As for you, if you reported to the police in a timely manner and provided them with all available information, then you have fulfilled your duty and cooperated in righteousness and piety, and your conscience is clear.
