Is it permissible to swear falsely to appease one's father if he is extremely angry?

Lying is forbidden (haram), and it is a type of iniquity (fujur) that leads to Hellfire, except in cases of necessity or narrow, legitimate interests that cannot be achieved otherwise. The prohibition intensifies if it is coupled with an oath, in which case it is considered a false oath (yameen ghamus), one of the greatest sins. Lying and swearing an oath upon it must be avoided. Euphemism (tawriya) and ambiguity (ma'arid) can be used as legitimate alternatives. If lying to parents is necessary to avoid extreme hardship or severe anger, and it does not harm another party, then it is permissible, and in such a case, confirming it with an oath is also permissible. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, permitted lying in three situations: war, reconciling between people, and between spouses. This can be extended to lying to parents if it harms no one and pleases them.
