Is it permissible to eat the laughing dove, knowing that it eats ants during mating season?

There is no Shar'i text that prohibits hunting during mating or breeding seasons. Thus, hunting at this time remains permissible in principle, even if it is better to refrain from it. The fact that birds feed on ants does not prohibit hunting and eating them, because ants are pure and do not fall under the ruling of jalalah, as they are not among the impurities.
