What are the legitimate means by which one can be protected from sorcery before it occurs?

1 min readAlso available in العربية

The danger of magic can be averted before it occurs by fortifying oneself with legitimate invocations (adhkar), including: reciting Ayat al-Kursi after every prayer and before sleeping, and reciting Surahs Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas after every prayer and three times in the morning and evening, and reciting the last two verses of Surat Al-Baqarah at night. It is also recommended to frequently seek refuge with the perfect words of Allah from the evil of what He created, and to say "In the Name of Allah with Whose Name nothing on earth or in heaven can cause harm, and He is the All-Hearing, the All-Knowing" three times in the morning and evening. These invocations are great means for warding off evils and repelling magic after it has occurred, along with supplicating to Allah for healing, such as saying: "O Allah, Lord of mankind, remove the affliction and heal, for You are the Healer, there is no healing except Your healing, a healing that leaves no illness," and the ruqyah: "In the Name of Allah, I seek healing for you from everything that harms you, and from the evil of every soul or envious eye, may Allah heal you, in the Name of Allah I seek healing for you" three times.
