What is the authenticity of the rule: "Everything that is permissible as a miracle for a prophet is permissible as a charism for a saint"?

A miracle is an extraordinary sign by which Allah supports His prophets and messengers, while a karamah (divine favor) is an extraordinary event that Allah brings about through His saints. There are many differences between them, including: a miracle is declared and accompanied by a claim of prophethood, whereas a karamah is based on concealment and does not entail a claim of virtue. Furthermore, a miracle often benefits others, while a karamah is usually specific to its recipient. A miracle encompasses all types of extraordinary occurrences, whereas a karamah is limited to some of them.

It should be noted that the statement "Whatever can be a miracle for a prophet can be a karamah for a saint" is not absolutely correct; for the miracles of the prophets surpass the karamat of the saints. The karamat of the saints are, in fact, among the signs of the prophets and evidence of their truthfulness. The major miracles of the prophets, such as the splitting of the moon and the bringing forth of the Qur'an, have no parallel among the saints, whereas minor signs may occur for the righteous, though not with the same magnitude or manner as they occurred for the prophets.
