Adultery (zina) is one of the gravest sins. Islam has severely punished it in this world with a hundred lashes for the unmarried and stoning for the married. In the hereafter, the punishment will be multiplied for those who die without repenting. There is no difference in the prohibition of adultery between Muslims and non-Muslims. The marriage of a Muslim woman to a non-Muslim is considered forbidden adultery. A person who commits adultery does not leave the fold of Islam unless they deem their act permissible. As for the rape of a woman, it is a heinous form of adultery, and the coerced woman bears no sin. If a pregnancy results from it, the child is attributed to the mother and inherits from her.
