What is the ruling on the prayer of a young man afflicted with urinary incontinence, and what is the treatment for urinary incontinence?

He who suffers from urinary incontinence ( سلس البول) to the extent that he does not find sufficient time for purification (tahara) and prayer (salat), is afflicted with incontinence. He must tightly secure a protective barrier around the male organ when the time for prayer enters, then perform ablution (wudu) and pray as many obligatory (fard) and supererogatory (nafl) prayers as he wishes. If he is not afflicted with incontinence, he must purify himself and wash whatever impurity has stained his clothes before praying. It is not permissible to be lenient in neglecting the protective barrier unless there is fear of harm. If he is negligent in securing the barrier and impurity stains his clothes, he must purify them before prayer. It is advised to turn to Allah in supplication (du'a) and to consult doctors for treatment.
