Is it permissible for the Friday sermon to be delivered by two imams in a single Friday prayer?
The Imam who started the sermon must complete it. The principle is that one person should deliver the sermon and lead the prayer, which is what the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, and the Rightly Guided Caliphs did, and the majority of scholars recommend this. The Malikis believe that it is impermissible for anyone other than the preacher to lead the prayer, except in cases of necessity. If two people participate in the two sermons, such that one delivers the first sermon and the other delivers the second, this is valid. However, sharing one sermon, some scholars have stated that it is not permissible without an excuse. Sheikh Muhammad ibn Salih al-Uthaymeen said: It is not a condition that the person who leads the prayer also delivers both sermons. It is permissible for one man to deliver the first sermon and another to deliver the second. However, one sermon must be delivered by a single person. If an excuse intervenes, it is safer for the second preacher to start the sermon anew.
