There is disagreement regarding the scribe of the boycott document. A group of scholars have authenticated that he was Bughayyad ibn Amir, and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, supplicated against him, causing his hand to become paralyzed. As for Abu al-Bakhtari and Zam'ah ibn al-Aswad, they were killed as disbelievers on the Day of Badr. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, had prohibited their killing due to their stance in annulling the document. However, Zam'ah was killed by a man who did not recognize him, and Abu al-Bakhtari was killed by al-Mujadhdhar ibn Dhiyād al-Balawi after he refused to abandon his companion.
