Did Abdullah ibn Abi Sarh – the scribe of the revelation who apostatized from Islam – distort some verses of the Qur’an?

There is a confusion between two individuals who apostatized during the time of the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him: Abdullah ibn Sa'd ibn Abi Sarh and a Christian man.

Firstly: Abdullah ibn Sa'd ibn Abi Sarh, who was the foster brother of Uthman ibn Affan, had apostatized and the Prophet declared his blood lawful. Then he embraced Islam, and his Islam became good after the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, granted him protection. Uthman appointed him governor of Egypt. It has not been proven that he distorted the revelation; rather, Satan caused him to stumble.

Secondly: The Christian man had embraced Islam then apostatized, and he used to say: "Muhammad only knows what I wrote for him." So, Allah caused him to die, and the earth expelled him three times after his burial. Thus, people knew that he was not like other people, so they left him.

Therefore, Abdullah ibn Sa'd ibn Abi Sarh is absolved of the accusation of distorting the revelation.
