Is it obligatory to leave the land of the hypocrites, or is it permissible to live among them?

Hypocrisy is of two types: minor hypocrisy, which does not expel one from the fold of Islam and is manifested in the characteristics of hypocrites such as lying, breaking covenants, failing to keep promises, and treachery. And major hypocrisy, which expels one from the fold of Islam, and that is concealing disbelief while outwardly showing Islam. Hijrah (emigration) is of three categories: obligatory for the capable person who cannot outwardly practice the rituals of his religion; not obligatory for the incapable person (such as the sick, the elderly, and the weak like women and children); and recommended for the capable person who can outwardly practice the rituals of his religion.
